Mix some dish detergent in warm (not hot) water with a few drops of ammonia (optional). Carefully brush with a new, baby size soft toothbrush and rinse in lukewarm water. Air dry or carefully towel dry with paper or line-free cloth. Be gentle while brushing and drying – gold is a soft metal. Be sure to avoid soap with unknown ingredients and chlorine, which can permanently damage or discolor gold jewelry.
